The writer Emile Zola also stayed for a time on Church Road. Fox Hill, with its extraordinarily steep downslope, is a stone’s throw from there and was beautifully captured on canvas by Pissarro, a copy of which graces a wall in my living room. The original is on permanent view in London’s National Gallery. For me, this evokes the uniqueness of the area and Beulah Hill as it has a strong connection with a bygone era where trade and creativity flourished.
In the last eighteen months, my flat has been decorated to a high standard. South facing, the property has large sash windows and benefits from a particularly good light aspect. From the living area, you can see and appreciate the generous-sized garden in which stand several beautiful trees.
Residents benefit from off-street parking. Transport links from Beulah Hill are excellent, with Gipsy Hill (Southeastern rail) some fifteen minutes’ walk from the house. The bus stop, next door but one serves Norwood Junction (196) and Croydon (468).
