Seller Insight

Located in the beautiful village of Hemingford Abbots, this impressive, spacious, family home enjoys the best of both worlds. A wonderful rural setting, combined with easy access to a wealth of outstanding amenities, it has been the much loved home for Philip and Cordelia since 2008.

“After living and working in many parts of the country, it was time to retire and discovering this special home in such a quiet location within the village was ideal and felt just perfect for us. Built in the 1970s it is one of four, individual, private, dwellings constructed to an exacting specification from what had been an ancient barn. Our home is spacious and bright and which, with its flexible, adaptable, layout has been a magnificent family home for ourselves and visiting family, whilst having good spaces for individual activities and pastimes. We have, of course, enhanced our home whilst living here which includes a total revamp of our kitchen and the family bathroom. It is also a brilliant house in which to entertain, and we have enjoyed many social gatherings when up to twenty of us have sat down to enjoy sociable meals.”

“The friendly village has a strong sense of community with many activities taking place in its purpose built village hall. The village is renowned for its popular bi-annual flower festival which is visited by many people from all parts. In addition, there is also an annual Regatta held on the river which the two Hemingford villages enjoy together. There are many lovely walks to nearby villages, across the water meadow to Houghton, or along the river bank into the adjoining village of Hemingford Grey. Quality supermarkets are plentiful in nearby St Ives or Huntingdon. Since the local upgrade of the road system, it is a very quick journey to the main line station in Huntingdon which offers a quick and efficient service into the capital and beyond. St Ives is also the starting point for the guided busway for journeys into central Cambridge to enjoy its fabulous architecture, theatres, concerts and restaurants.”

“It is for logistical reasons that we are saying farewell to our wonderful home in this fabulous location and moving nearer to our family. We shall miss so many things about living here and know that whoever decides to live here, will be extremely happy and as content as we have been.”
