The Coopers House

The architect known for the "Wansford" look was Samuel Sanders Teulon (1812-1873). Originally part of The Duke of Bedford's Estate, Coopers House was built in the Tudor style for the first tenant, cooper, George Eayrs, with lavish decoration including a stone barrel with the initials ge to the front, with the Duke of Bedford's own coat-of-arms above. In addition there is a date stamp of 1850 and the Dukes initials fb are carved into the gable end. George Earys grave can be found in Wansford church yard.
