Description
Overview

White House is a wonderful family home which offers a range of versatile living and utility space with kitchen, four reception rooms, conservatory, boot room, utility, WC and wine cellar. On the first floor are five bedrooms with three bathrooms (two en-suite). Built as three separate cottages in the late 18th century and combined into one large house with additions in the 19th century. The property has evolved over three centuries to become the generous family home it is today.

Ground Floor
The large entrance hall with stained glass and timber door has original Minton floor tiles, original period cupboards, cloakroom leading off and a staircase with handrail to the first floor. The hallway gives access to all four reception rooms, glazed double doors to the conservatory and the wine cellar downstairs.

To the rear, the sitting room has a wood burning stove set onto a tiled hearth with a wooden surround. There is built in shelving, picture rail and a bay window providing views of the garden and open countryside.

The family room, to the front, ideal for games, entertaining and TV nights, has parquet flooring with bespoke fitted bookshelves, front bay window with a further window and glazed French doors to the garden.

The striking dining room with central beam, fire surround (currently sealed off) and window to the front is a fantastic entertaining space for at least ten to dine.

There is a large home office / study with fireplace (currently non-operational) with period wood mantel and surround, ceiling beams and windows to the side and rear. It is fitted with bespoke fitted bookshelves, cupboards, filing cabinets and computer desk.

The spacious kitchen is well equipped with a four-oven oil-fired Aga with fitted shelving on either side. There is an integrated dishwasher, sink, inset induction electric hob and built-in microwave. The tiled floor, ceiling beams and original storage cupboards are brought up to date by classic neutral decoration. An archway leads to a separate breakfast area that leads through double glazed doors into the large Amdega conservatory. Off the kitchen there is a boot room with additional cupboards and sink unit. The good-sized utility room has plumbed services with a tiled work surface and sink unit. This has a good range of oak base and wall units with an AEG electric fan-assisted oven, ladder radiator and window to the front. Doors lead to the back staircase to the first floor and out to the courtyard.

The delightful Amdega conservatory, with opening windows on two sides, three opening roof lights and French doors to the garden, tiled floor and Dimplex heating has access from both the hallway and the kitchen.

First Floor
From the entrance hallway, stairs with dark wood handrail and spindles lead to the first-floor landing which features a picture rail, stained glass window and original built in cupboards below.

The imposing master bedroom has exposed oak floorboards with a high ceiling and picture rail. There is a (non- operational) fireplace with an inset cast-iron fire surround and a large bay window with lovely countryside views. There is a walk-through wardrobe with bespoke fitted units leading on to the en-suite. The classically styled en-suite has a double width walk-in shower enclosure with Grohe shower unit, WC and two pedestal wash basins, radiator and two windows to the rear with countryside views.

Bedroom two is a very large double with an open fireplace with tiled and wood surround. There are windows on three sides which flood the room with light.

Bedroom three has a working open fireplace with decorative tiling, pedestal wash basin and window to the front.

The family bathroom has a white panelled bath with tiled, period-style shower unit above and opaque window to the front. There is a pedestal wash basin, WC, ornamental fireplace, wood panelled walls to mid height and tiled slate flooring. The original radiator remains and is an airing cupboard housing the large, lagged hot water cylinder. A door connects to the fourth double bedroom.

Bedroom four has a high ceiling (and loft access) with dual aspect windows to the front and rear affording views over the garden and door to the back staircase.

Bedroom five, perfect for guests, is a single bedroom with fitted wardrobes and dressing table with a window to the front. This room has a modern styled en-suite shower room with pedestal wash basin, WC, heated towel rail, tiled shower unit with enclosure and a window to the side.

Outside

Outside is a garden store and double timbered garage (currently being built). Attached to the house there is a boiler room housing the Buderus, condensing gas-fired boiler.

The garden is a beautiful complement to the main house. Just outside the kitchen there are two ornamental water pumps in a small courtyard. The main garden is south facing. There are colourful well-stocked flower borders between the lawn and the outbuildings.

The village road is well screened by established yew, holly and sycamores trees. The main rear garden is currently being re-landscaped with an access road to the newly constructed double garage. The CGI images illustrate accurately how this will look once finished.
