House For Sale £1,300,000
Warren Road, Chatham ME5

Description
Pilgrims Rest is a striking home, built on a secluded plot on the North Downs, with magnificent panoramic views over the Medway Valley. The property was built in the 70's by Architect Rodney J. Allen for his own occupation and is a real one-off with some beautifully considered design features as you would expect of an architect designing their own home. Some of the stand out features for us are the vaulted living room ceiling, the large picture windows framing the far-reaching views and the long balcony accessed from the living area. This home is perfectly set up for modern living and flooded with natural light boasting a flexible open-plan space that flows from one room to the next making it ideal for sociable owners who like hosting parties. There are three bedrooms, but one could easily be subdivided if four were needed as well as three bathrooms. In addition, there is a utility area off of the kitchen and a study area with its own balcony off the living space. The mature secluded plot is in the region of 0.35 Acres (tbv) and slopes away from the property with a large stilted decking area in a central location that is perfectly placed to enjoy the views to the south. There is a long driveway accessed via electric gates that leads to a double sized garage. We expect this stunning home to generate a lot of interest and as such would recommend an early viewing to avoid disappointment.

The property is situated in an elevated position within the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, between Maidstone and The Medway Towns. There is plenty to do with your free time in the area; picturesque walks on the North Downs Way nearby, a riding school five minutes (all times given are approximate driving times) and a gym and spa at Bridgewood Manor also around five minutes away. For the more adventurous, Rochester airfield is eight minutes away and offers flying lessons in planes, helicopters and microlights. Alternatively, Cobtree Manor Golf course is just 4 minutes away. There are some excellent education options nearby for the children with Tunbury Primary School around 7 minutes away, and Greenacres Academy (boys secondary) as well as Walderslade Girls school (all Ofsted Good) around 10 minutes away with Maidstone and Rochester also offering some superb Grammar school options. Nearby Rochester and Chatham Maritime offer great choice for retail therapy or a night out. Commuters can drive to Ebbsfleet International Station in 19 minutes (14 miles) and access high speed trains to London St Pancras in as little as 18 minutes.

Owners Remarks:
Living at Pilgrims Rest has been a privilege that combines many different pleasures and experiences that this wondrous home offers. Not only is Pilgrims an extraordinary architectural masterpiece, for example the living room comes alive when the trees are frolicking in the wind, natural moving wallpaper pleases the eye. Especially so when you include the magnificent panoramic views – a real treat at New Year and Bonfire Night when fireworks light up the sky. At other times it is a joy to catch the sight of hot air balloons from Leeds Castle and Headcorn. The wildlife, both flora and fauna are both surprising and delightful. The abundance of wildlife and birds give great pleasure, as does the appearance of wild Pyramid Orchids, (a protected species), growing in abundance throughout the garden in early summer. The wild strawberries we pick around the garden are simply scrumptious. When we first moved into this beautiful house, for the first six months we honestly felt like we were on holiday – a difficult act to follow in so many varied ways. We place Pilgrims Rest on the market with heavy hearts. Both of us are unwell and sadly illness forces the reluctant sale of our glorious home.
