House For Sale £865,000
Clayton Road, Peckham, London SE15

Description
This wonderful two-double-bedroom house, moments from central Peckham, has been lovingly curated by the interior decorator owner, who has enhanced its inherent Victorian qualities with playful touches of colour and texture and a dream-like rear garden.

Brickworks Says

Centrally located close to Peckham's vibrant Rye Lane and the cafes, bars and restaurants that have sprung up along and around it, this two-bedroom terraced property is at once characterful, joyous and sophisticated. The two reception rooms, with painted floorboards and matching marble fireplace surrounds, are linked via double doors, allowing them to serve as separate, intimate spaces or thrown open to host a meal with friends or a children's party.

At the back of the house, a kitchen finished in a contemporary cottage style opens through bi-fold doors onto an exquisite urban garden. The mature planting, pots and terrace, which leads via steps to a summer hideaway, are a romantic medley evoking the south of France and instantly whisk you out of the city. The considered use of colour and texture is mirrored upstairs. The two double bedrooms are tranquil zones, while the freestanding bath-shower room has been decorated in striking gold and racing green.

Clayton Road is perfectly positioned within easy reach of Peckham's best-loved bars and restaurants, as well as the delightful Bellenden Village, Peckham Rye Park & Common. You have excellent transport links too – with fast and frequent trains from Peckham Rye linking neighbourhoods in the south, centre and east of the capital.

The Owners Say

I've lived in Peckham for 25 years while the transformation has taken place around me. I love this area. It's unlike any other. I remember stepping into this house 12 years ago and knowing it had to be mine. It's a bit of a tardis, wider than the average Victorian property, starting at an unassuming front but leading through the hallway to the kitchen/diner, which opens through bi-fold doors to a quiet, lushly mature garden. It has a heavy-cropping apple tree, a loquat, a cherry tree (i've just scoffed the cherry harvest – only a handful, but sweetly succulent) and a rather grand olive tree with surrounding hydrangeas, peonies and perovskia shrubs. It's a private haven and seems to have its very own micro-climate. The second the sun glimmers at 8am i’m outside and I just swap seats to enjoy the beams until early evening.

It’s a wonderfully comfortable home, full of colour and ambience. I've had parties and dinners that start in the sunny garden while we munch in the kitchen, then move to the reception rooms as the sun goes down and we light the fire for night-time quaffing. I'm going to miss this place.
