The nearby village of Westwood, to the north-west, is home to the Peto Gardens and summer opera festival of Iford Manor as well as the National Trust owned Westwood Manor. Bradford-on-Avon is home to the Wiltshire Music Centre. As well as walking and riding in the area, local interests include premier division rugby at Bath, horse racing at Bath, Cheltenham, Wincanton and Chepstow, hunting with the Avon Vale, numerous golf clubs and shooting and fishing syndicates.

In the parish of Wingfield there are several very good primary schools. Bath is renowned for the quality of its private schools. Boys, girls and mixed private schools are found at Prior Park, Stonar, Monkton Combe, King Edwards, The Royal High and Kingswood in Bath. Further afield, but within easy reach are Millfield, St Mary’s Calne, Marlborough and Sherborne. Bath also has a renowned University, as does Bristol.

Communications are excellent with train stations locally in Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge and Westbury. High speed trains to London Paddington are available from Chippenham (75 minutes approximately) and Bath Spa (90 minutes approximately). The M4 can be accessed at either Junctions 17 or 18.
Description

You enter the property through the porchway with coat cupboards into a welcoming entrance hall with oak beams, an oak staircase and real fire.

The spacious drawing room has many period features, triple aspect windows to the front, to the side and to the rear. French doors lead to the garden.

From the hallway there is a study overlooking the driveway.

The kitchen has an efficient Everhot range and overlooks fields to the rear of the house. The kitchen leads through to the utility room, with wine store and then takes you onto the dining room. The dining room has sliding doors to the patio and feature pond. The dining room can be also accessed from the hallway.

Leading on from the dining room is the library and from here a small set of stairs ascends to the contemporary cinema room on the mezzanine floor. Returning to the library and continuing along you find a stunning double bedroom with French doors to the side overlooking the field and to the rear giving access to the patio. On the ground floor there is a bathroom and two separate cloakrooms.

Ascending the main staircase in the entrance hall to the first floor there are two well-proportioned double bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms and a further two double bedrooms and family bathroom.

Externally

The house is approached via its own private driveway. A small paddock area leads to the tennis court, both at the front of the house and a gate to the side of the double garage allows access to the adjoining extensive field, ideal for ponies.

There is a turning circle at the end of the drive with ample parking for cars in front of the house. At the rear of the property is a very recently built splendid garden room which would be ideal as a studio or home office. The heat pump room is located next to the studio.
