“Both the exterior and interior have had much attention to detail. The oak floors downstairs have underfloor heating and my husband hand-crafted all the oak beams and oak window frames in the office. A local carpenter handmade the utility room units which is painted in Farrow & Ball Light Blue; most of the house is painted in Gardiner to create a calm, peaceful atmosphere, with splashes of Laura Ashley Kimono, Fleur de Lys and Sitwell Brick to match the soft furnishings.”
“The house has seen many family parties, Sunday roasts cooked on the large, double oven range and has been a hub of activity over the years for family and friends. Winter is an especially enjoyable time lighting up the log-burners, watching Christmas films on the projector and being able to invite lots of people to stay and enjoy the warmth and loving atmosphere of the house. It is a great time to have a sauna room too.”
“Spring is also a wonderful time at The Grange. The garden is fully stocked with perennials that shoot up every new month starting the year with snowdrops, daffs, bluebells, tulips, lily of the valley, alliums, hellebores, peonies, roses, sweat peas; there are also various clematis, a beautiful wisteria and scented jasmines. The Grange has a resident tawny owl who can be often seen sitting on the fence whilst all sorts of wildlife have been spotted in the lane including deer, hedgehogs, barn owls, butterflies and a range of different birds. There are lots of bridlepath walks, the nicest to the Royal Oak pub in nearby Aubourn, which serves locally produced home-cooked food. The Five Bells at Bassingham is also a lovely place to eat and relax.”

South Hykeham is a small, leafy village dating back to before the Domesday Book in 1086 when it was described as “hichum.” Set in open countryside, the village has an equestrian feel with paddocks to rent and Bruce’s diy Livery and Hope Meadows Equine close by, consequently there are plenty of lovely walks along bridleways from the doorstep. It also has a village primary school, a very active church dedicated to St. Michael and All Saints and a popular village hall. Conveniently, neighbouring North Hykeham has a great many shops and amenities including a superb new medical centre and even a train station. As well as to other parts of the country, Lincoln station (5.5 miles/20 mins) provides direct train services to London, or from Newark (12 miles/20 mins southwest) taking 70 minutes to Kings Cross.
South Hykeham is only 2 minutes to the A46 for good road links, with the A1 South 10 minutes away at Newark, or if northbound, it is about half an hour’s drive to pick it up at Markham Moor. There are bus services into both Lincoln and Newark.
