'When we moved into Balmain Street, we never imagined for a moment that we would be here for 21 years! The longest either of us had lived anywhere before was less than half of that time. To me, the fact that we have stayed this long really says something about Totterdown. It is by far the friendliest city location I have ever come across. Long before pandemic lock-downs brought neighbourhoods together, this was a place where people looked out for each other, smiled and chatted in the street, brought their children up together and made enduring friendships… and we have done all of that.

We have eaten countless delicious pizzas from Accapella, appreciated the convenience of a local pharmacy and the Co-Op and we’ve really loved the addition of the wholefood store & deli, Fox & West, and more recently, coffee and cocktails at Bank. To cap it all, we have rarely had to take a car into town – it’s so easy on foot, bike or bus and, as someone who is often on the last minute, I have loved the fact that I could make it down to Temple Meads Station on foot in 15 minutes.'
