The Space
The Charltons has a spacious living room with the dining area to the rear of the space. With a comfortable velvet sofa and flat screen TV, it’s the ideal space to unwind after a day exploring the area.
Fully equipped, the kitchen has everything you could need to prepare meals during your stay including modern appliances and cookware.
Head to the first bedroom and you’ll find a delightful space. Featuring a comfortable king size bed with premium bed linens, every care has been taken to ensure your night’s sleep at The Charltons. Pops of colour are added through the soft furnishings and wall art.
The second bedroom is equally as comfortable and it features a single bed, once again made up with plush bedding.
In the family bathroom you’ll find a bathtub with an overhead shower, as well as a WC and basin.
Head outside and you’ll discover a private back yard. Perfect for keeping children entertained, there is also a play park just behind the house.
Neighborhood
Charltons is a peaceful village located 5 miles south of Saltburn-by-the-Sea, whilst the market town of Guisborough is just down the road. The village was named after Thomas Charlton who built the cottages for the miners at his Slapewath ironstone mine around 1870.
The market town of Guisborough is located on the edge of North York Moors National Park so you have plenty of walking routes to explore. In the centre of the town, you’ll find a charming, cobbled high street which is lined with shops, cafes and pubs. Visit the English Heritage site of Gisborough Priory which dates back to the 12th century. Here you’ll find the dramatic skeleton of the 14th century church's east and outstanding Gothic architecture.
Less than 10 minutes away by car you’ll reach Great Ayton. This idyllic village is perched on the banks of the River Leven and was once known for its industries in linen making, tanning, brewing and mining. Today it is a quaint and pretty place to visit. Enjoy an afternoon stroll and enjoy an ice-cream from Suggits, the traditional sweet shop which is a firm favourite with the locals.
In Saltburn you can take the oldest functioning cliff lift in the UK down to the promenade and you’ll arrive at the 208-metre pier which stretches out into the sea. The promenade has numerous shops, takeaways, cafes, restaurants, and the Pier’s amusement arcade for the kids. The long sandy shores are overlooked by colourful boutique beach huts and high cliffs tower in the distance.
Saltburn has plenty of beautiful walks too. The Valley Gardens are a maze of paths and tracks which wind through the flowers and woodland. If you want to explore further, The Cleveland Way National Trail is over 100 miles long and the lovely Saltburn is featured. If you fancy a 17.5 mile jaunt, start at Saltburn and walk your way to Sandsend. This walk is a great way to explore the North Yorkshire coastline and the views are beautiful!
