The Property

The Palm Tree Inn is a grade II listed former Coaching Inn with a fascinating history that dates back to around the 18th century.
It was originally built as a Georgian Farmhouse. Around 1728 when, the then owner was granted a license to sell ales from the premises. In 1806 it was purchased by a local seaman who travelled on one of Captain Cook's ships and visited the Hawaiian Islands where Palm Trees were sighted, hence the name.
Now in 2022 it still boasts its original impressive features which include, timbers and exposed beams as well as open fireplaces and wood floors. It is considered a sizeable family property with the added option of a self contained annexe if desired.

This really is a property that must be viewed in order to be fully appreciated, not only for the obvious charm and character, but also for the amount of space inside and outside.

What The Vendors Love About The Palm Tree Inn

It’s rural living at its best. We have all the tranquility of living in the countryside, but it’s so well connected with the number 17 bus stopping just outside so our boys could hop on to school in Folkestone and Canterbury (just 20 mins in each direction) and be dropped off directly outside.
You never feel isolated, you truly have the best of both worlds!
We are fully encircled by nature set in around 2/3rds of an acre, surrounded by farmland and woodland walks with a seasonal stream that flows at the bottom of the garden. It is a haven for any bird watcher, nature lover, keen gardener or hiker.
Being steeped in history we have always tried to preserve every last quirky feature that makes The Palm Tree what it is, a very unique and enviable place to call home.
We hope that the next custodians will feel the same way and treasure it too. It’s going to be very difficult for us to live in a “normal“ house ever again and we will miss it so much.
