House For Sale £650,000
Durlock Road, Staple, Canterbury, Kent CT3

Description
Backing onto fields and nestling in the midst of a fascinating enclave of unusual houses, created from a variety of farm buildings, is this delightful property. It forms part of a very large oast and includes an iconic cone shaped roof and cowl and is approached via a long communal gravel drive that leads to all the properties and provides plenty of off road parking for residents and visitors. The owners have upgraded and extended the property including replacing all the windows and added bespoke blinds and shutters as well as using custom made bricks to match with the original mellow brick exterior.

The attractive kitchen/breakfast room was updated and extended in 2017. It now includes Amtico herringbone style flooring, a range cooker, American fridge freezer, a peninsula breakfast bar with a wine fridge and units with granite worktops housing a dishwasher and a stainless steel butler sink . There are French doors to the terrace and access to an inner lobby, back door and laundry room that includes a low shower that is ideal for washing the dogs after a muddy walk in the countryside.

There is a large, light and bright dual aspect open plan lounge & dining area with additional skylights and French doors to the terrace and the same Amtico flooring as well as a modern downstairs cloakroom and a vast understairs storage cupboard.

Up the stairs there is built in shelving and on the first floor you will find a large double bedroom with fitted cupboards that is currently in use as a double aspect snug. Here you can enjoy the stunning and uninterrupted rural views as far as the eye can see. There is also a trendy family bathroom with a bath and separate shower as well as another double bedroom with equally delightful views.

What the Owner says:
We bought this house about 10 years ago because we immediately fell in love with the views and the location. During our time here we have extended and modernised it to become the truly charming home it is today. We enjoy the peace and tranquility as well as the friendly atmosphere and the village that includes a pub with a small shop and Barnsole vineyard. However we feel it is time to start a new chapter in our lives and hope another family will be able to take advantage of everything we have done here.

We are not far from Ash that has buses going to Sandwich and Canterbury on a regular basis. That village includes a Co-op, newsagent, chemist and hairdresser as well as a physiotherapy centre, a good primary school and St Faith's prep school. Wingham is also nearby with its individual shops, pubs and restaurants including the Dog – winner of the Great British Pub award 2019. There is also the Wingham Wildlife Park, an excellent garden centre and the renowned Gibsons Farm Shop for all your quality local produce.

The medieval Cinque Port town of Sandwich with its delightful pubs, restaurants and shops is within easy reach while the historic city of Canterbury with its high street stores, individual shops, universities, theatres and heritage buildings is not far away. Golfing addicts can enjoy their game at Princes and the world renowned St George's championship course in Sandwich.
