House For Sale £925,000
Sycamore Way, Chudleigh, Newton Abbot TQ13

Description
This stunning property is tucked away behind a private stone wall in a gated estate providing secluded living but being conveniently located in the heart of the town. This superb, period property provides extensive, spacious accommodation arranged over three floors and has been conscientiously restored. The property is a credit to its current owners who have maintained a high standard throughout and have retained all of the character associated with a property of this period whilst ensuring that it remains the grand property it once was.

The property now enjoys all the modern conveniences you would expect with a high-end property of this calibre. The attention to detail is really quite remarkable and although the two main reception rooms are vast, the property still provides a warm and welcoming feel throughout. One of the more noticeable features of the property are the balconies located off the main reception room on the first floor and the main bedroom on the second floor, both wonderfully placed to enjoy the far-reaching rural views.

1 Culver House was built by Thomas Yarde in 1852 as an addition to the original Georgian Culver House. It was built in the Italianate style, including a portico entrance, grand open well staircase with hand-carved oak motifs and two substantial receiving rooms with ornate plasterwork, deep skirtings and shuttered bay windows. By the beginning of the 21st century the house had fallen into serious disrepair although fortunately many of its best features survived intact. The current owners purchased the house in 2016 and restored it meticulously to its original state, with the benefits of 21st century living such as a modern kitchen, bathrooms, new wiring, plumbing, central heating and wood burning stoves in the dining room and drawing room. The restoration included fully insulating the house to make it a comfortable family home. There are fabulous views of distant hills from the first and second floor balconies, and views as far as Haytor from the bedrooms.

The walled, south facing garden is accessed through a grand stone archway and provides parking for multiple cars. The landscaped garden includes evergreen Lucombe Oak, Loquat, Strawberry and Ligustrum trees. The detached linhay in the garden, newly constructed in Douglas Fir under a slate roof, is currently used as a studio and has a water and electricity supply. In addition, there is a parking space at the front of the house.
