Propertyworld is delighted to present this stunning four bedroom, three reception room, semi-detached Victorian house that has been extended to the rear, creating a versatile, family home packed with period features and original charm. The house has a wonderful, open, warm feel, helped in part by an abundance of natural light, with the accommodation laid out over three floors.

On the ground floor you will find two discrete receptions, a W.C and an impressive kitchen diner which has been extended and remodelled, together with a useful utility room. The front reception is packed with period features, including stripped wooden flooring, decorative fireplace (with wood burner), picture rail and cast-iron radiator. Double glazed sash windows and plantation shutters blend seamlessly; it is a gorgeous room that sets the tone for the rest of the house. There is an adjoining door that takes you into the second reception room that is similarly impressive, which also has original stripped wooden flooring, and works perfectly as a playroom, music room or snug to chill out.

A grand hallway, with a gorgeous original tiled floor takes you through to the kitchen diner which is almost 30ft long, with shaker style fitted wall and base units and a central island that provides a focal point for the room. To the rear, down a couple of steps, is a further reception area that is the ideal dining space for the family. Bi-fold doors then open into a raised deck area, with pergola, knitting inside and outside perfectly, and producing an additional area to relax or dine. The overall effect is impressive which we have no doubt, you will love. The house also boasts a separate utility area, which any busy family will appreciate, and a cellar, which can be used for storage.

On the first floor you will find three generous double bedrooms and a well-appointed bathroom that was recently upgraded and is in keeping with the age and character of the house. The loft has been converted to create a fourth double bedroom and a generous attic room for storage.

The current owners have also had plans drawn up recently which would enhance the house further. The plans include creating a fifth bedroom and second bathroom in the loft area. The remodelling, by removing a smaller staircase and modifying the main staircase, will also enlarge the second bedroom on the first floor.

Our Vendor Loves

“The house is so well positioned and connected, and so convenient: We’ve loved the fact that Penge East is a 2 minute walk from the front door and gets you into London in 15 minutes, whist Sydenham station is only a ten minute walk away. Our children go to the nursery a 30 second walk away at the end of the road, and the parade of shops next to Penge East station means we’re never more than a few minutes away from essentials (or fish and chips!). We’ve explored the many big parks and woodlands within easy walking distance on our Sunday strolls, and when we’ve felt more adventurous, we’ve had many lovely family days out exploring the nature and historic buildings in much of Kent, Surrey, and West Sussex, usually no more than a 30 minute drive away.

We absolutely love the quiet street and the cherry blossom on its trees in the Spring, our brilliant neighbours, and the wonderful warm community on this road.

We’ve loved how the house changes character with the seasons: Our cosy living room with its log burner for winter evenings, and our beautiful open plan kitchen, with its bi-fold doors opening onto the decking and looking out into the garden, for sunny summer days. The extra playroom has meant that we have usually managed make sure that the children’s mess stays in one room, which really helps!

We’ve been careful to keep many of the original features of the house (like the floor tiles in the hall and the fireplace in the living room) have loved the connection to the past that such features provide in our 150 year old home.”
