General Information
'Vaternish' is situated on the east (sea) side of the Gulberwick loop road, just 3 miles from the centre of Lerwick, the positioning of the house allowing it to enjoy spectacular unrestricted views eastwards over the Bay of Gulber Wick and the Ness of Trebister, and beyond to Bressay and the sea.

Gulberwick has proved a popular location particularly in recent years as it provides a semi-rural location yet still within easy reach of all the amenities in the town, just a short 5 minute drive away. School transport is provided for primary and secondary pupils in Lerwick, at either Sound Primary School, or Anderson High School. There is a beach not far from the house.

As noted in the home report, it is thought that the property was originally built circa 1979, and that the outer skin of the property (the outer cladding to the structural timber frame) was constructed using 'Sullom Blocks'. Around 2008 the property was re-harled. At the time detective blocks were replaced however recent investigation has highlighted further issues with the blockwork which is reflected in the price. This may mean some restrictions on lending.

Accommodation
There is a more formal 'front' entrance to the east (sea) side of the house, however in practice access is usually via the side door to the garage, a door from the garage opening to the kitchen / dining room, a good-sized room with two windows facing west. There is plenty of space for a table & chairs, a peninsular unit separating the dining area from the kitchen which has fitted units including a concealed cooker hood, inset 1½ sink and plumbing for a dishwasher (appliance not included). To reach 'Vaternish' approaching from Lerwick, take the first turning to Gulberwick and follow the road down the hill and into the village. Pass the small kirk on the left, and the local hall on the right, and continue past the ‘Hillside’ houses on the right. Just after Hillside is a small group of houses on the left hand side of the road, 'Vaternish' being the middle house just to the south of the neighbouring property 'Craigside'.
