Description

In a lovely rural location, 1 Colethrop Villas offers a charming semi-detached Victorian home. Dating back to 1867, the properties were originally estate workers cottages. As soon as you open the large solid oak door into the terracotta tiled reception hall, you immediately sense the warmth of this delightful home. The current owners have lived in the property for over 30 years, testament to the charm of this special home. The reception rooms lead off the main entrance with a cosy dining room to the front of the house and a spacious sitting room to the rear. A large fireplace with wood burning stove inset, provides a lovely focal point to the room and the high ceiling creates a wonderful sense of space and light. A good sized boot room links the main sitting room to the kitchen and also provides access to the garden and patio area. Three large windows overlooking the garden make the kitchen a lovely bright space and access to the garden and patio from the rear end of the kitchen, lends itself to alfresco dining. Two good sized double bedrooms are located on the first floor plus a large bathroom. The real jewel in the Colethrop Villa crown however, lies in its wonderful garden. Set mainly to the rear of the property, the garden extends to circa one third of an acre and includes vegetable and fruit gardens, as well as a large workshop at the top of the garden, formerly a stable block. A double tandem garage plus separate car port, provides parking for up to six cars, together with further parking on the gated gravel drive.

Directions

The property is most easily located by leaving Stroud on the A46 in the direction of Gloucester and Cheltenham, branching left at the junction signposted Gloucester. Continue up through Edge and down the hill, straight over the first roundabout and then turn left at the next roundabout directly after Fagin's Pub, signposted to Haresfield. Follow this road for approximately 1.5 miles and take the second right hand turn to Colethrop, just after the riding stables on your right and before reaching the village of Haresfield. Follow the lane for circa 200 yards and 1 Colethrop Villas will be found on the left hand side.

Location

Close to the village of Haresfield, Colethrop is a peaceful hamlet in a delightful rural location. Haresfield has a thriving country Inn as well as a primary school and church and the popular Haresfield Beacon, offering a wonderful open expanse of National Trust land, ideal for country walks with wonderful views across the Severn Vale. There is a popular garden centre approximately half a mile away and the local area has excellent educational facilities in both the state and private sectors, including the well known Wycliffe College in nearby Stonehouse along with several sought after grammar schools in both Stroud and Gloucester. Stonehouse is within 10 minutes drive and offers numerous shops and a supermarket, as well as a post office and mainline railway station. Junction 12 of the M5 motorway is a five minute drive with easy access to Bristol and the Midlands. The larger town of Quedgeley is circa five minutes drive, with a Tesco supermarket and large retail park.
