There is golf at Sherborne, Yeovil and Dorchester (Came Down), National Hunt racing at Wincanton and Taunton; flat racing at Bath and Salisbury. The area is well known for some excellent schooling including Sherborne Schools, Leweston and St Andrews Primary School in Yetminster.
