Built on the historic fresh water filter bed site of the Rye Common Pumping Station. Originally constructed in 1883, this pumping station formed part of the London fresh water modernisation plan, and the adjoining landmark buildings remain standing in proud and working order, adjacent to the site.Vital to the developers architectural vision was retaining certain historical aspects of the site. The original foundations of the building were preserved, and have cultivated the form and architecture of the new building structure, evident in the eclectic courtyard and sprawling lower ground storage areas. Part of the original pumping mechanisms have also been restored and will form the artistic focal feature in the development entrance area.
