House For Sale £1,500,000
Fishbourne Lane, Fishbourne, Isle Of Wight PO33

Description
With a fascinating mix of period features, modern design and inter-generational opportunities this spacious family home with its origins in the 1920s is unique. Built from former piggeries on land from the Sir Thomas Cochrane estate, the house is set well back from the road down a private gravelled driveway and through the electric gated entrance, to open on to a large gravelled frontage that leads to a double oak framed open garage with electric charging point and where you can park numerous vehicles. The varied roof lines, high chimney stack and box bay windows give the property kerb appeal and the charm continues as you cross the threshold through the oak framed porch, with a boot and coat room directly ahead and access to the annex/separate holiday let wing. You then step into the reception hall with its painted ceiling beams and large double door fronted storage area with internal shelving and hot water tank. This leads through to the characterful study / 5th bedroom that also has painted ceiling beams as well as a box bay window, a feature brick wall and bespoke wine shelving. The ground floor annex is delightful. It has its own external entrance or can be accessed from the hall and is ideal for elderly relatives, adult children, nanny quarters or as a guest wing or holiday let. In the newly designed part of the house there is the stunning light and bright dual aspect family space with sea views. Fitted with oak flooring and under floor heating throughout and a feature panelled ceiling and wall. It includes three sets of floor to ceiling windows and a large skylight as well as patio doors to the rear garden and French doors to the rose garden. The focal point in the lounge area is the feature wall and modern three sided Barbas Bell panorama gas fireplace while the dining area is large enough to entertain a dozen guests and includes a breakfast dresser unit with bi fold doors, complete with integral fridge. From the hallway you can access the first floor via the original staircase and once up the stairs the landing features a roof lantern with three bedrooms and separate family shower room off of. The front bedroom has a built-in single bed, fitted cupboards and a mezzanine play area above that can fit a single mattress, this good-sized family guest room has a partially vaulted ceiling with original beams and views to the front.

What the Owner says:
We were lucky enough to have come across the opportunity to purchase this property as it is rare for properties of this nature to come up in lower Fishbourne. We could see the potential and having the fantastic location, only a couple of minutes' walk to the beach front and even less to the ferry for easy commuting to the mainland we fell in love with it. We immediately carried out a small refurbishment knowing the potential to extend the property into a large family home was the aim in the future. It is very quiet and peaceful being set back from the lane and it is delightful being so close to the yacht club and award-winning pub.
The house also appealed to us because, although it was rather run down at the time, we loved the character and charm. Over the past few years we have been delighted to extend and architecturally design a property by successfully blending the old with the new. We now have a property that uses high quality sourced fixtures and fittings to make it the wonderful family home it is today. However, we are starting a new chapter in our lives and hope new owners will be able to enjoy the quality of everything we have created here.
