We used to pass the house on our way to work and felt really drawn to it and after viewing the inside we fell in love with it there and then. It has been a wonderful family home for 11 years but reluctantly we have to move back to the mainland, otherwise we would never leave. During our time here we have built the extension which has added an extra dimension to our home and provided accommodation flexibility and income generating opportunities as an Air BnB. The garden is west facing having incredible views over to the mainland and beyond and we experience amazing sunsets. After all this time, we still marvel at them every evening. The village of Calbourne is delightful with a very supportive community and a short walk takes you to the very friendly Sun Inn pub. There is also a garage, the only working mill on the island and the 9th century church as well as the Westover cricket team for anyone who enjoys the sound of leather on willow. We are only a few miles from Newport and Freshwater while nearby Brighstone has some charming individual shops. Freshwater includes Tescos and other established shops as well as the Freshwater Bay Golf Club, Freshwater Sports Club and the West Bay Country Club and Spa in Yarmouth. While Newport, as the island's county town, has a variety of high street stores and independent shops as well as wide selection of restaurants and bars.
