House For Sale £649,950
Old Moor, Milton, Abingdon OX14

Description
Owner's quote: "The house is tucked away in a quiet location, so sometimes we see deer and pheasant on the field opposite. However, it is very convenient for several local towns and a fast train route to Reading and London. Within easy walking distance, we have a gym and pool with excellent facilities and a pub. We will be very sad to leave our lovely home of more than 20 years."

This is a handsome Grade 2 listed home, believed to date from the late 17th century, set on a village lane on the southern edge of Milton with open fields on the other side of the lane and the recreation ground nearby. The accommodation amounts to circa 1489sq ft gross internal over 3 floors with good ceiling heights and positively generous proportions throughout. The natural light is particularly appealing with large windows to the south, east and west. On the ground floor there is a hall with timber floor, cloakroom, large kitchen/dining room with stylish partial glass ceiling and drawing room looking onto the garden with fabulous main beam, fireplace, wood burning stove and timber flooring. On the first floor there are three bedrooms and the bathroom together with stairs leading to the very fine fourth bedroom on the top floor with its unusually high ceiling.

To the rear, the west there is a long and very well stocked garden of circa 88ft with gate at the far end to the recreation ground.

Although the property does not have off road parking of its own it has used two spaces on the lane just yards from the front door without let or hindrance for many years.

Milton is a pretty village, fabulously well placed for quick and easy access to Didcot Rail Station with its very fast links to London Paddington and similarly well placed for the A34, which connects quickly with M4 and M40. As such this property is wonderfully well placed for road and rail travel across the south of England and yet here it sits on a little country lane next to open farmland.

There is an abundance of good schools within easy reach, primary, secondary, state and private.

Vendor's view: "We have loved living in Stepstone House because it is so light. Sometimes I think I have left a light on and then I realise it is the sun coming through the window! It is unique and beautiful and full of historic reminders. Milton is a lovely village to live in. We have supportive neighbours and a range of village activities and events including the Milton Feast', which is our annual fete."
