House For Sale £800,000
Shadrack, Burton Bradstock, Bridport DT6

Description
Handsome and substantial detached five bedroom period village house with a double garage and parking, to the centre of Burton Bradstock village and a short walk to Hive Beach

This property is believed to have been built in the 18th Century and has a classic double fronted stone period facade under a slate roof. The property was extended in the 20th Century, while in the 21st Century it has undergone a comprehensive programme of renewal, reconfiguration and refurbishment to create an attractive family-sized house, with a wealth of accommodation that can be used in any number of ways. The property also has the huge advantage that it is not Listed, but remains within the Conservation Area of the village.

The original configuration of the house is classically Georgian with a hallway running from the front to the rear of the property and a room at each corner of the house. The later addition of a dining area beyond the kitchen to the rear and a conservatory off the sitting room have made the accommodation particularly flexible. The sitting room occupies one side of the house with a bay window to one end and a sitting area focused around a Georgian-style fireplace equipped with a coal-effect gas fire and a second sitting area to the other that in turn leads through to the conservatory. The conservatory is constructed of UPVC on top of a stone plinth, with double doors leading out onto the terrace and gardens. It is fitted with blinds and an electric fan.

To the other side of the hallway there is a music room/study while under the stairs there is a useful cloakroom. The daytime living hub of the house is the kitchen/dining room with the kitchen area to one end equipped with a comprehensive range of floor and wall mounted units and cupboards, with hardwood worksurfaces over. There is an integrated dishwasher and space for a gas-fired range cooker and a fridge freezer. To the other end there is a large dining area that overlooks the gardens behind with a set of double doors to one side onto the terrace. To one side of the dining area a door leads through to that most useful of rooms, a utility/dog and boot room that has plumbing for a washing machine and has further cupboards and a sink and drainer. The flooring downstairs is laid to a practical yet attractive mix of ceramic tile and quality wood laminate flooring. Upstairs on the first floor there are four good bedrooms the principal of which has an en-suite shower room, with the three remaining bedrooms sharing a recently refurbished family bathroom equipped with bath and shower, half tiled with attractive Travertine tiling. On the second floor there is a large room that is currently used as a second sitting room that would make fifth bedroom if so required. The property is in good decorative order, has UPVC double glazing and gas fired central heating.

The village of Burton Bradstock is considered to be one of the most attractive villages in West Dorset, and consists largely of period stone and thatched cottages. The village has a primary school, church, shops, post office, several pubs and cafés, library, children’s park and a late-night garage/shop. The beach and coastal path are just a short walk away.
