Dartmouth and the South Hams
The beautiful market town of Dartmouth is located in the heart of the much
sought-after area of South Devon known as the South Hams. The region is known for having an uncommonly temperate climate, consisting of lush, unspoilt countryside, hidden combs and a spectacular coastline.
Dartmouth, famous for its historic port and boating amenities, is full of
character and has retained much of its original charm. The town's many
restaurants, local pubs and boutique shops are all within a short walk of the
property. It is also home to the Britannia Royal Naval College.
The town of Dartmouth has excellent facilities for sailing, with the Dartmouth Royal Regatta being a highlight of the racing calendar. For the more ambitious yachtsman there are deep water moorings, three marinas and a number of boat yards. For the cruising yachtsman Dartmouth is the
perfect base from which to explore France, The Channel Islands and the
picturesque harbours and creeks of the West Country.
Dartmouth has numerous sandy beaches, coves and sheltered anchorages,
all of which make it excellent for water sports, boating and long walks along
the beautiful coastline. In addition to sailing, there is an excellent golf course just outside Dartmouth. There are opportunities for walking and riding on Dartmoor, just a few miles to the north.
Communication links are good with the A38 Devon Expressway 20 miles to
the north the M5 motorway at Exeter. There are regular intercity rail services from Exeter and Totnes to London Paddington. In addition, there are an ever increasing number of domestic and international flights from Exeter airport.
