House For Sale £2,500,000
South Brent, Devon, TQ10

Description
Dating back to 1650 Glazebrook House is an immaculate Georgian country house with later Victorian additions. Originally the site of a farmhouse, in 1865 it became a manor house and in 1945 Glazebrook House was owned by the naval commander Algernon Edmund Penrice-Lyons. It then was converted into a hotel in c.1970.

In 2013 Glazebrook House underwent an extensive and sympathetic refurbishment to become an impressive country house hotel which makes a stunning residential dwelling house or can be used for boutique events and functions. The current owners worked together with the interior designer Timothy Oulton to create striking interiors reflecting British revival style.

The generous proportions of the house are typical of its era with magnificent high ceilings heights, elegant windows, excellent natural light and impressive formal entertaining rooms. The main entrance hall creates a wonderful sense of arrival and sets the tone for the rest of the house.

The attention to detail continues to the first floor, where there are eight beautifully appointed double bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms of exceptional quality, together with a media / meeting room, sitting room and study.

The basement provides a chilled cellar room, plus a series of rooms for wine or other storage.

Glazebrook House is located on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park, close to the village of South Brent.

Dartmoor National Park is renowned for its spectacular scenery, heather clad moorlands, wooded valleys, rushing streams and granite tors. Whilst being in a beautiful rural position the property is also close to the amenities of South Brent which is served by excellent local shops including delicatessen, butcher, pharmacy, garage, dentist, GP surgery, a primary school and recreation ground; Ashburton and Totnes are both a short drive away.

There is outstanding walking, cycling and riding and for golfers there are many courses on Dartmoor and the south coast including Bovey Castle and Thurlestone which both offer excellent facilities. There are fantastic freshwater swimming or fishing river spots both locally and further onto the moor with the river Avon and Dart nearby. There is also access to great sailing and surfing locally with easy and fast access to the beautiful beaches and waterways of the South Hams.

The South Hams and Dartmoor have some award-winning local pubs and restaurants. Glazebrook House benefits from being between the cathedral city of Exeter and the historical naval port city of Plymouth, both which offer extensive cultural, recreational and educational facilities including theatres, shopping centres, sporting facilities, fine universities, retail, art galleries, numerous bars and restaurants. The port of Plymouth has regular cross channel ferry services to Brittany and Northern Spain, Exeter has an international airport, and both are supported by mainline train service to London.
