SELLERS INSIGHT I've always lived in the Brentwood area and had no intention of moving house but, I had noticed the penthouse apartment at The Galleries had come on to the market so, on a whim, I decided to take a look. The apartment went beyond my expectations in terms of space and facilities (it had three underground parking spaces attached to it), and I realised it would give me the opportunity to lead a different, more hassle-free style of life. All the day to day maintenance of the property and the gardens are overseen by a management team, with the added bonus of an inhouse concierge team who act as keyholders, and receive deliveries and tradespeople whilst I'm at work.

The building itself is very grand, in the classical Victorian style, with the most beautiful communal gardens. I think we have at least five gardeners maintaining the grounds and it's wonderful to be able to sit outside in the evening with a glass of wine, without having to mow the lawn or prune the hedges! It's also a very secure environment, the entire complex is walled and gated, with electronic security gates, so it's incredibly safe for families with children.

What most struck me about the apartment was its sense of space and serene atmosphere. It has its own staircase which leads up to the front door with another staircase beyond leading into the apartment, so once inside, it's incredibly quiet and you really feel like you're above the rest of the world in your own private sanctuary. The main living area is vast and incredibly airy, with the ceilings rising to almost four metres at the apex. It's a great space for entertaining and I've hosted many large family Christmases here with ease. A small, but big attraction for me, was the amount of storage available. Being located in the eves, there's acres of storage space which is a rare commodity in most homes.

I think there are numerous things I'll miss when I leave, with location being the main one. It's such a great place to live because everything you could need is right on the doorstep; the station is only a ten-minute walk, and now the Elizabeth Line is running, I can be in central London within 45 minutes; the high street is fifteen minutes away with some great restaurants; we have some very good schools in the vicinity; and two enormous country parks are barely a mile away. The other highlight, which will be impossible to replicate, are the amazing views from the apartment. I have panoramic views of the entire London skyline, with the added bonus of being able to watch the fireworks on the Thames every New Year's Eve!
