What the Owners say

Forge House delivers charm via a big sweeping drive, with abundance of character. We have loved living here for 9 years, the house took our breath away on first viewing. We have had many fabulous years living here in the quintessential village of Somersham. We’ve loved and modernised many aspects of the house, but we now feel this house needs a new family where new memories and laughter can be continued. Unfortunately our family has now increased with two horses as well as three gundogs. We are now looking further afield and we will miss Forge house, as it holds a special place in our hearts!

Background & History

This lovely character house is believed to date back to the mid 1700’s and was formerly known as the local blacksmiths being owned by the Plumber family. The property has changed over the years and now creates a fabulous three story four bedroom property with its character still intact. The property has two very well proportioned reception rooms which are joined by the vast chimney stack that provides two inglenook fireplaces. There is a garden room situated at the rear of the property and the kitchen showcases the character with some split floor levels with access to the utility and shower room, the cellar and the pantry. On the first floor there are two double bedrooms with an additional study leading to the main bedroom with the en-suite bathroom and a separate family bathroom. A second staircase leads to the second floor where two further bedrooms can be found. There is a wealth of character with exposed beams and brickwork on view. The exterior of this property is just as charming with a sweeping shingle driveway leading up to the house and the double garage. There is a front garden with lawned and planted areas and a side patio with a creeping vine takes you round to the rear garden with a further array of planted borders and a sun trap decking.
