House For Sale £535,000
Tarrant Rushton DT11

Description

A beautifully presented 3 bedroom semi-detached brick and flint Victorian cottage with outstanding views of the surrounding countryside, situated in a quiet and picturesque Tarrant Valley hamlet.

Dating back to about 1870, this charming home was extended about 20 years ago by the previous owners. It is connected to mains electricity and water, and has LPG heating (with a new boiler installed in 2020), double glazed windows and a private drainage system (with a shared septic tank.) Since taking ownership in 2010, our clients have re-developed the garden and built an impressive garage/workshop and summerhouse.

The property is set in a village conservation area within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), a few minutes’ drive from the market towns of Blandford Forum and Wimborne Minster, and enjoying easy access to both The True Lovers’ Knot Inn, Tarrant Keyneston and The Langton Arms, Tarrant Monkton. Tarrant Rushton is home to the beautiful parish church of St Mary, and the former airfield from which gliders took off, bound for France, on the morning of D-Day, 6 June 1944. Rawston Farm Butchery and Shop and Ashley Wood Golf Club are both close at hand, and community events are held frequently at Tarrant Keyneston’s village hall. The coastal towns of Poole and Bournemouth, both of which have mainline rail links to London Waterloo, are within about 30 minutes’ drive.

An entrance lobby leads to a large, light sitting room with an impressive slate tiled floor, exposed timbers, a feature fireplace, a wood burning stove and a bread oven. The dual aspect dining room overlooks the garden and has attractive oak flooring. There is a well presented country kitchen featuring a comprehensive range of units, a slate floor and an exposed brick and flint wall, and a separate utility/cloakroom with units, WC and door to outside. The first floor landing has a built-in cupboard, and there are 2 double bedrooms, 1 single, and a bathroom with bath, WC and wash basin.

Outside there is a gravelled area providing off road parking, and a timber garage/workshop with tiled roof and log store to the side. A gate leads to the main garden area which features a south facing lawn, beautifully stocked borders, and a substantial summerhouse with a lovely view across the valley and fields beyond. Behind the cottage there is a cleverly planted area with a wildlife pond.

Directions: From Wimborne, proceed towards Blandford on the B3082, through the avenue of beech trees beside Badbury Rings hill fort. Proceed down the hill into Tarrant Keyneston. Turn right at the True Lovers Knot Inn, signposted to Tarrant Rushton. After about 1 mile, turn right, again signposted to Tarrant Rushton. Proceed over a small river bridge and, at the T-junction, turn right. The property can be found on the right hand side.
