A pleasant, mature woodland, extending to approximately 0.37 acres (0.15 hectares), comprising largely native broad leaved trees: oak, beech, sycamore, silver birch and alder. The woodland would benefit from some scrub management.
Access - Access is by public footpath only; coming up from Plank Gate the path enters the wood at the northwest corner, skirts the west and south boundaries, then goes over a stone step stile in the southeast corner. It is only a short distance from Plank Gate to reach the wood, approximately 40m.
On Site Structures - There are two built structures within the wood, labelled 'tanks' on the Ordnance Survey map. One is small and shallow, measuring just a few square metres; the second one is larger, in the region of 100sqm and deep, posing a potential hazard. There is no clearly defined boundary to the west, which falls roughly along the line of a small escarpment. The short south boundary follows the line of the footpath. The north and east boundaries are clearly defined dry stone walls in reasonable condition.
