SITUATION
The Maltings is situated in the centre of Fordwich, a village on the eastern side of Canterbury. It is reputed to be the smallest town in England and is located by the River Stour. Centuries ago, the town was a small port serving Canterbury and has a lovely church, many fine period buildings, and two popular public houses. Local shops and facilities can be found in the nearby village of Sturry, which also has its own mainline railway station. The Cathedral City of Canterbury, with its excellent shopping centre, many cultural interests, a good choice of schools, colleges and approximately two miles away, with King’s primary school being located in Sturry. Recreational facilities in and around the area include sports centres, swimming pool, a good selection of golf courses including St George’s at Sandwich, and the nearby Polo Farm Sports Club. Fishing and water sports can be found along the coast. Connections are good with Canterbury having two railways stations with Canterbury West operating the high speed link into London St. Pancras in less than an hour. The channel tunnel terminal and the Port of Dover both operate services to the continent.
