The Wesley Memorial Methodist Church comprises a substantial suite of church buildings, constructed in 1907. Standing on a roughly rectangular site, fronting Bryants Hill of approx 31m and 48m in depth. The church was designed by an architect called WH Dinsley in the Victorian Gothic Revival style and is cruciform in plan, with chancel nave and transepts which are fully fitted with pitch pine pews, but without a gallery.

Nave (22m x 12m), chancel (5m x 10m), transepts (6m x 3m) and vestibules (4m x 3m).

Lower Ground Floor:

The gross external floor area of the church is approximately 450 sqm.

The church is constructed with Pennant stone walls and the roof is pitched, with pitched abutments and clad with natural slate covers.

The building is listed Grade II but does not stand within a designated Conservation Area. There are no burials.

The community rooms to the back will be retained by the church. There will be pedestrian right of way to the community rooms via the front gate.

Location

Wesley Memorial Methodist Church is situated in the St George district of Bristol on the eastern edge of the city boundary.

St George was a mining area from the early 19th century until 1904 when the last fireclay mines were abandoned. Troopers Hill was declared as a Local Nature Reserve in 1995 with Troopers' Hill chimney being a local landmark.
The nearest rail stations are Lawrence Hill and Stapleton Road.
