Situation

The land is situated to the west of the Wensleydale village of Thornton Rust approximately six miles east of Hawes, within the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Description

The land is shown edged and shaded in red on the plan and extends in total to approximately 5.52 hectares (13.64 acres) of permanent pasture and is divided into two separate field parcels each bounded by dry stone walls. The field adjoining the public highway is an improved meadow extending to 1.70 hectares (4.20 acres) and suitable for summer cropping. The pasture above extends to 3.82 hectares (9.44 acres) and is semi-improved and only suitable for grazing, it is also a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its species-rich sward and is known as Chris’s Pasture SSSI.

In general, the land seems in good heart and managed in accordance with its potential. It had a moderate gradient with a northeasterly aspect and lay between 260 and 290 metres above sea level. Water for livestock drinking is available from a small watercourse. There is a small derelict stone buildings upon the land.
