High Street, Deal

Description
A splendid period townhouse built in the mid 1800s and has recently undergone a comprehensive programme of restoration and renovation alongside a reconfiguration of the layout, the end result is a wonderful mix of character and modern convenience.

The current owners have a creative eye for detail and have beautifully presented the property with a palette of bold colour, bespoke joinery and fine décor which enhances the property's heritage. The sympathetic restoration has brought the property back to its original era, which combines a mix of Georgian and Victorian features resembling the alterations to the property over the years. Exposed decorative panelling, intricate architrave, cast iron fireplaces, stained glass and fully refurbished timber sash windows flourish throughout and displays the property's wealth of character.

The façade is a blend of brick and render, which contrasts beautifully with the recently refurbished double glazed sash windows, set behind handsome wrought iron railings, a few steps rise to the solid wood front door which opens into a striking entrance hall with original panelling and stripped floors.

To the right there is a bay fronted sitting room adorned in character with its ornate fireplace, intricate architrave and arched alcoves which have decorative corbels.
A few steps descend into a reading room with engineered oak flooring, a wood-burning stove which is set within a chimney breast and a bespoke bookcase and cupboards. There are French doors which lead to an enchanting courtyard filled with an abundance of greenery.

The kitchen breakfast room has been arranged in the basement and is flooded with light from the bay-fronted window, the design is contemporary with dark units integrating all main appliances which include a double Neff oven, dishwasher and butler sink, finished with quartz work surfaces and stylish hexagonal tiles. A stove is nestled within a chimney breast whilst there is additional under pelmet heating, the space is further enhanced by a quirky pantry built underneath the stairs.

To the rear of the ground floor there is a utility room with sink and plenty of room for laundry appliances, the area is complemented by a cloakroom and shower enclosure.

To the first floor one will find the principal bedroom, with beautifully crafted wardrobes and a well-appointed luxury bathroom which has recently been installed and offers a free-standing bathtub, walk in shower and basin set within a bespoke vanity unit, the space is finished beautifully with attractive panelling and metro tiles. To the second floor there are a further three bedrooms two of which are generously proportioned doubles.

SITUATION:

The property is ideally located, right in the heart of Deal, just two streets back from the beach and moments from the cafes, bars, antique shops and independent retailers.

Deal is a popular seaside town which lies eight miles north-east of Dover and eight miles south of Ramsgate. It is a former fishing, mining, and garrison town. Close to Deal is Walmer, steeped in history, and a possible location for Julius Caesar's first arrival in Britain.

Deal became a 'limb port' of the Cinque Ports in 1278 and grew into the busiest port in England; today it is a seaside resort, and its quaint streets and houses are a reminder of its history along with many ancient buildings and monuments. In 1968, Middle Street was the first Conservation Area in Kent. The coast of France is approximately twenty-five miles from the town and is visible on clear days. The impressive Tudor castle was commissioned by King Henry VIII and has an unusual Tudor rose shaped floor plan.

There is also a non-League football club, Deal Town FC, which plays at The Charles Sports Ground and a rugby club, Deal & Betteshanger Lions, who play at the old RM Drill Field off Canada Road.

There is a farmers market on Wednesdays, which sells local produce, as well as a well-established market on Saturdays. The town has a strong independent retail sector along with several more widely known shops in the town centre. The popular Astor Theatre in Deal offers musical performances, live theatre, exhibitions, movies, classes and clubs.
