Girton Road is special - from its super-convenient location and friendliness to its eye-pleasing curve. I love the peace and seclusion just minutes away from Sydenham's vibrant high street. The fantastic travel links have made my commute into central London far less of a challenge and - as a non-driver and northerner - enabled me to explore the South's countryside and coast.
I love that my house has led to me develop new creative skills - decorating, replacing lost original features, designing a new bathroom, upcycling old furniture and so on. When I moved in 19 years ago, the garden was just two enormous heaps of rubble and a couple of ancient shrubs. My heart sank, as my horticultural knowledge was virtually zero. But I had a great starting point - the beautiful cedar tree at the end of the garden. After a few years of trial and error - mainly error! - I developed the knowledge needed to create what has become a haven for me and my visitors.
