Darnley Drive, Bidborough, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, TN4

Description
An impressive and beautifully appointed family home in a very convenient location between Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge.

Description

Darnley Drive is a popular road enjoying a wonderful location, off Bidborough Ridge, and our clients anticipated that number 17 would their family home for many years.

With that in mind, they have undertaken a complete refurbishment of this handsome tile hung 1930s home, bringing it right up-to-date with a stunning contemporary finish.

Of particular note is the lovely elevated position on a generous and established corner plot, straddling Darnley Drive and Bounds Oak Way.

The presentation is immaculate, and the accommodation has been architect-designed over three floors to maximise the flow of natural light, with skylights, huge picture windows and full height glazed doors opening out to the rear garden.

The fabulous Neptune fitted kitchen lies at the heart of the house, finished to a high specification and featuring a large island breakfast bar, quartz worksurfaces, multiple cupboards and drawers and integrated appliances including a Siemens induction hob, Miele oven, dishwasher and with space for an American-style fridge freezer. The extensive limestone flooring, with underfloor heating, links from here to the open plan dining/family area, with high lantern ceiling and out through glazed corner doors to a terrace, creating seamless space for enjoyment throughout the year. The domestic area is completed by an impressive matching Neptune utility room providing space for white goods.

More private space can be enjoyed in the sitting room, with its original walnut parquet flooring refurbished to create a stylish room with a contemporary wall mounted wood burning stove and huge oriel window framing a lovely outlook over the garden, and with a bespoke walnut ledge. The parquet flooring extends through to the reception hall and the study, which is currently used as a games room.

The galleried landing on the first floor gives access to five bedrooms including a spacious dual aspect principal suite, and a well-appointed family shower room. Bedroom 2 has an open tread staircase up to a useful second floor studio, where a lovely view can be appreciated from the velux windows towards the west and south west.

The garden is a lovely feature, wrapping around the house and providing a good level of privacy. To the rear the lawned area has mature shrubs and trees to the boundaries, and our client has recently planted silver birches, a crab apple and flowering cherries. The flagstone terrace on the westerly side provides a sheltered corner for entertaining, with a walled bar, bar-be-que area and external lighting.

To the front is a magnificent silver birch tree and a newly installed resin driveway from the Bounds Oak Way side giving access to a detached traditional-style garage, and plenty of parking space. From the Darnley Drive approach there is a pedestrian gate and a path flanked by azaleas and yew.
