LOCATION

Tillycoultry is one of the popular Hillfoots villages, situated in a picturesque location to the east of Stirling, between the Ochil Hills and the River Devon. A former weaving village, “Tilly” has a strong community spirit with several active churches and community groups organising craft fairs and community activity weeks throughout the year. The village is served by a supermarket, post office, bank, health centre, and dentist, and is home to a branch of the Clackmannanshire fires service. There is also a good range of cafes and pubs, in particular the award-winning Tilly Tearoom and artisan ice-cream cafe Penny Licks. Beers from the celebrated independent Harviestoun Brewery can be found throughout Scotland. The village has a primary school with a good reputation, with secondary schooling to be found at Alva Academy or independent schooling at nearby Dollar Academy. Tillycoultry is also known for a variety of leisure pursuits, including a golf course, the Firpark dry slope ski centre and scenic walks through Tillicoultry Glen. Shoppers flock to the Affinity Sterling Mills Outlet and Sterling Mills Furniture Warehouse. Easy access to the M90, M9 and M80 mean the village is increasingly popular with commuters; the nearest train station is to be found in Alloa or Stirling with transport links to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth and beyond.
